Why Do I Pay A Fee On Booking?
A small number of people book sessions then disappear. This payment will be returned to you when our work ends.
Why Do I Pay Weekly?
Psychotherapy can only function in a consistent relationship. The fee is not a subscription, it's acknowledgement that a time is reserved for you, whether or not you attend. This steadiness protects the work you've achieved, allowing you to build on it. Paying weekly means absence itself or the desire for it can be explored rather than ignored, obscured or otherwise hidden, and protects the continuity that allows psychotherapy to work.
Distress comes with a degree of stress and turmoil, and the regularity and reliability of therapy offers some order. You don't have to rearrange your diary, worry about forgetting what day and time therapy is, and so on.
I have many clients and, just like anyone with a full diary, need to be organised to offer you the best possible service. Being a psychotherapist requires focus; being calm, grounded and rested allows that kind of presence with every client, every session.
We agree holidays well in advance. You don't pay me when I'm absent, you're entitled to 8 free absences per calendar year.
