About me & Contact
I qualified as a psychotherapist in 2007 and completed the MA in 2009. I also work as a volunteer psychotherapist, assessor, group facilitator, clinical supervisor, a BUPA psychotherapist, and am Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I've many years experience of working with senior professionals in the public and private sectors, young adults finding their way in a new life, people who want to discover what may be holding them back from success in their personal life and in employment. Meaning and purpose change over a lifetime and it can be very useful to reassess what you're doing and why you're doing it.
There's no shortage of advice available for every conceivable problem but life isn't that straightforward. Psychotherapy looks at your life in the round rather than at isolated 'issues' that require repair. It's the difference between sticking a plaster over a wound for years on end or spending some time thinking about how to heal it. You need the pain to stop very quickly - that's reasonable - but once that's achieved you want the wound to repair, not keep opening up.
Authenticity is the bedrock of my work which means that I will take you seriously and respond to you carefully, respectfully and truthfully. If that sounds daunting and sombre, sometimes therapy can be like that. It can also be joyful, enlightening, exciting and even enjoyable.
Since March 2019 I've been working online with all clients. What began as a necessary adaptation to Covid became a way of working that has allowed me to keep my fees low and be more flexible with appointment times, while seeing more clients from more diverse groups and so I'm continuing to work in this way.
Meeting face to face for therapy remains a perfectly valid way of working. Counselling Directory is a good place to find therapists who do.
